As the vast majority of pupils are now learning from home in line with current national lockdown guidance: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home. Please read the below information carefully, if you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting your child’s class teacher and / or the school office.
Key email addresses: Aswe have over 100 vulnerable pupils and children of critical workers in school we have divided the teaching staff into two teams. One class teacher will be teaching in school whilst their year group partner leads on remote learning. Both teachers plan all learning together to ensure consistency between home and school.
All home learning will be emailed out daily to parents using the email address we currently hold in school. If you have recently changed your email address please contact the school as soon as possible. The email you receive may not be from your child’s class teacher as they may be teaching in school. If you have any general enquiries please email: email@example.com

- An overview will be given for each of the lessons. For EYFS and KS1 up to 3 hours per day. KS2 up to 4 hours per day. For each lesson audio/video slides (PowerPoint) will structure each lesson. You may need to download the PowerPoint App in order to access these: Link for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.office.powerpoint&hl=en_GB&gl=US
Link for iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/microsoft-powerpoint/id586449534
- Teachers will structure a planned and well sequenced curriculum so that knowledge and skills are built incrementally, opportunities will be given to practice skills as well as learn new content.
- It will provide learning across the curriculum and children will be expected to spend a similar amount of time completing this as they would spend learning in school. Of course, active learning is also still an important part of children’s learning and development so PE and outdoor learning will also be included.
- The work packs collected from school will enable your child to record and structure their learning. If you require new/more work books please contact the school office.
KS1/2 Framework and routine for each day:
Guided reading/ Foundation subject
|Session 4 (KS2)|
Daily Reading for at least 15 minutes
We fully understand the pressure families are facing again with balancing working from home with supporting your child’s home learning, especially with younger children. Lessons are recorded so families have the flexibility to access the lessons when it best suits you. You may also have to juggle your daily routines if you have more than one child at home and are having to share laptops and devices.
If you are struggling with accessing the learning or have limited access to devices please contact the class teacher first or the school office and we will do our best to support you in anyway we can.
Class emails and MarvellousMe will remain in use as the communication element has already proved to be invaluable. Teachers and parents will be able to message one another to share information, provide feedback and offer support.
When your child has completed their learning for the day / session please email it to the class teacher by either taking a photo or scanning their work. The class teacher will then respond via email or using our MarvellousMe App. Emails will be replied to during the hours of 8.30am till 4.30pm.
Use of class emails and MarvellousMe will be in-line with the school’s IT Acceptable Usage Policy and staff Code of Conduct.
Pupil wellbeing and support
Pupils and families may be experiencing a variety of emotions in response to the coronavirus outbreak, such as anxiety, stress or low mood. It is important to contextualise these feelings as normal responses to an abnormal situation. It is important we support each other: pupils, parents and staff with regards to our mental health and wellbeing. The guidance attached may also be useful: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-supporting-children-and-young-peoples-mental-health-and-wellbeing

I will also be delivering 3 weekly assemblies for all the family to enjoy which will be posted on Buckland’s YouTube channel. Emails with a link will be sent to families via Parentmail, helping us all to remain connected.
It is also important that children continue to remain fit and active and where possible, have 60 minutes of daily physical activity. Physical Education (PE) will be included as part of your child’s remote learning and will be emailed by the teachers. Joe Wicks is also offering his active PE sessions 3x a week which can be accessed via the link below. It is also streamed live on Monday/Wednesday/Friday starting at 9am: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ
It is vital that children continue to read every day as part of their daily routine. This can be done at any time of the day, independently or alongside siblings or parents. Reading is the building block to all learning. Teachers will also read to their class on a daily basis.
What if a school bubble needs to isolate?
If a bubble who are currently in school have to isolate following confirmation of a positive test and they have been identified as a close contact, they will access remote learning via the above protocols.
What if my child is unwell?
If your child is unwell and unable to access their home learning, please do not worry. As the lessons are recorded they can be accessed when your child has recovered. Please email the class teacher to let them know they are unwell using the emails above.
As a school we will continue to develop our remote learning offer with support from the Department for Education, Local Authority and contracted IT specialist support technicians. Alongside existing platforms already used in school these will be developed and extended in order to ensure access to learning for all pupils and their families. Further information will be sent out in due course.
Further information is also available on our school website: http://bucklandprimary.surrey.sch.uk/remote-learning/
