Parents
BehaviourAt Buckland Primary School, positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Our nurturing and inclusive ethos ensures that all children are supported to thrive, while clear boundaries and expectations create a calm and purposeful environment.
Our Approach
- We build strong, respectful relationships between staff and pupils.
- We teach children to be kind, responsible, and reflective.
- We create predictable routines and a safe, supportive atmosphere.
- We celebrate diversity and ensure everyone feels included and seen.
Expectations and Boundaries
- Rules are clear, simple, and applied consistently.
- We prioritise positive reinforcement and recognise good choices.
- Staff, volunteers and visitors set an excellent example to pupils at all times
- Pupils are helped to take responsibility for their actions.
- When behaviour falls short, we use restorative approaches to repair relationships and help children learn from mistakes.
- Consequences are fair, proportionate, and aimed at supporting growth.
Supporting Individual Needs: We recognise that children communicate through their behaviour. Some may need extra support—and we provide this sensitively, working with families and professionals while maintaining high expectations for all.
Working with Families: We believe behaviour is best supported through strong partnerships. We communicate openly, share successes and concerns early, and work together to help each child flourish.
Our Commitment: We are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive school where every child feels they belong, behaves well, and is equipped to become a confident, respectful, compassionate member of the community.
The governing board also emphasises that violence or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated in any circumstances.
