On Wednesday 13th February Buckland travelled to Our Lady for their second league match of the campaign. The Buckland girls’ team has gone from strength to strength in recent years and although Our Lady are a very good side with their own talented players, Buckland are just too strong. Full of confidence from their previous matches and their exploits at the Fulham tournament, the girls were keen to get the match underway. With the usual team kicking off it was not long before Buckland scored the first of the game with Sude making a quick turn and firing the ball past an unsuspecting goal tender. Layla quickly doubled the score before Sude made it 3. After a precautionary substitution for Layla, Our Lady found a little space and made chances, one of which was only stopped by a goal line clearance from Hope. Check up over, Layla was back on and with her first touch found the back of the net. The half time score 4 – 0 Buckland.

The second half continued in the same fashion, Buckland attacking the opposition’s goal. However, Our Lady had made a goalkeeper substitution at half time who was making some fantastic saves and from both Jess and Layla. Layla managed to find the net from inside her ow half that everybody seemed to miss and with Jess in the way of the goalkeeper the ball crept in. Layla finished the evening off with a 4th and Buckland’s sixth of game. The final score 6 – 0 Buckland.

Considering the girls have been beating teams by double figures, demonstrates just how well Our Lady played. However, Buckland still have 3 tournaments and at least 4 match left to play and their goal tally is already in excess of 80 goals this truly is one of the best Buckland teams ever to wear the swans on their chest.
