Dear Parents and Carers,

At this time of year, we normally hold our Infant and Junior Harvest assemblies where families are welcomed into school and each year group participates in an autumn or Harvest themed performance.

Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions it is not possible for them to take place. However, as a school community we feel it is more important than ever that we give thanks and support our local community. The children will take part in Harvest themed activities in class as part of their RE and PSHE curriculum.

Each year we ask our families to bring in donations for a local food Bank. Manna Food Bank is a local charity in the Borough of Spelthorne, supporting local families and individuals who are referred to by agencies, both statutory and voluntary, who are perceived as being in emergency need of food and household essentials.

From Monday 12th October, families can bring in donations which will be collected by Manna Food Bank before the half term holiday. See below for a list of foods that are accepted by the charity. Please note they can only accept non-perishable food, as they do not have storage facilities to store fresh food.

  • Small tins pineapple/mixed fruit
  • Tins/Boxes of Biscuits for our larger families
  • Tinned fish (we have good stocks of tuna)
  • Tinned Carrots / potatoes
  • Tinned Sweetcorn
  • Tinned Spaghetti
  • Chocolate Spread
  • Breakfast and Cereal Bars
  • Pasta ‘n Sauce Pouches by Bachelors (or similar)
  • Mug Shots Sachets
  • Tea-Bags in 80’s or 100’s (no speciality teas thank you)
  • Lunch on the Go foil tuna meals by John West or similar
  • Toothbrushes – Adult
  • Washing up Liquid
  • Shampoo

Any donations MUST be brought into school and taken to their classes. All donations will then be stored in the Infant Hall until it is collected by the charity.

Thank you for your continued support, together we can make a difference in supporting a local charity for local families.

Best wishes to you and your family,

Rebecca Hutton
